Planting flowers? Why keep the petals on the stem?…

This weekend we planted some flowers in the yard in getting ready for a party. When I turned around and the youngest of my two assistants was raiding my flower cart. She, at the ripe age of one, was ever so generously plucking by the handfuls the flowers heads off the stem and scattering them about the yard… That is one way to do it, I thought!
